Do You Want to Drive Traffic to Your Website?

Social media is a popular marketing tool, and if used correctly you can drive traffic to your website. Here’s how to take advantage of the social media craze.

Today, one of the best ways to quickly get more traffic is to use social media. But, if you’re not using it correctly then it won’t help you drive traffic to your website.

Social media for small businesses isn’t as simple as setting up accounts and creating posts. You need to have a strategy if you want to succeed.

Keep reading to find out exactly how you can use social media to get more customers to your website.

1. Master of One

Before you create social media accounts on every known platform, take some time to determine where your target audience is most likely to be. Will Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, or LinkedIn be the best place to reach those who would be most likely to purchase your products or services?

Once you’ve picked a platform, learn everything you can about it. Know exactly what you need to do to grow your audience through that platform and be ready to master that one platform.

Why just one? Because if you spread yourself too thin, you wont really appear active on any platform.  Once you do master one, then you can consider a second platform.

2. Use Images

“A picture is worth a thousand words.” That couldn’t be truer when it comes to using social media to drive traffic to your website. Images have been shown to out-perform other types of posts by 650 percent.

When someone is more than 6 times more likely to engage with your post if it has an image, that should be more than enough reason to use images in all of your social media posts.

Just be sure that the images you’re using relate to your content. Cute kittens may be tempting to include in all your posts, but if you’re trying to sell car tires, you probably need to consider a different image.

3. Make It Mobile-Friendly

Because so many people use their mobile devices to engage with social media sites, you need to make sure your posts and your website are mobile-friendly. There’s nothing more frustrating to a mobile user to click a link in a post only to find themselves on a website they can’t read or navigate.

So, you need to make sure your website is optimized for mobile devices before you start pouring all of your energy into social media marketing. Otherwise, all the engagement you get from social media will mean nothing since users will bounce right back off your site.

4. Schedule Your Posts

Every platform has different levels of engagement from users, so you need to know how often to promote your content to your audience.

  • If you post too often, you turn off users who feel bombarded with your posts.
  • If you post too infrequently, you won’t be getting enough engagement.

First out how many posts you should be sending out for the platform of your choice, then figure out what time of day your audience is most engaged to plan all your posts around their availability.
